India-China Border Standoff! Why cant China attack India like 1962?

India and China are currently having a faceoff at Doklam area of Bhutan. Both the troops are facing eye ball to eye ball with each other. China claims the area as its own and India claims that it is bound to protect Bhutan from external aggression. Chinese these days are increasing their assertiveness along its border with India. But this standoff can not rain into a full border war like 1962. There are quite a few reasons for this

  • India and China both are nuclear powers
Both India and China are nuclear powers and this would force both its leadership and military not to go beyond the brink. No nuclear power wants to fight other for the fear of MAD or mutual assured Destruction.

  • War will hurt both countries economically
Both countries are growing economically and will not want to waste their resources in war with other. China would lose more economically because any war like situation will force the rest of the world to impose economic and military sanctions against China. This would totally destroy Chinese export oriented economy. Any war between the two will also damage relations with rest of BRICS nations and will revise all predictions for global economy by 2050.
